This design incorporates the traditional cable stitches of the Aran Isles, including fishbone and moss stitch. This is truly a classic sweater that works for a baby girl or baby boy--and will never go out of style.

Yarn

We offer it in a kit with 776 yds. our natural U.S. organic cotton. Included in the kit is a yard of 7/8" natural grosgrain for lining the button band (optional). The cotton kit can make a 6 mo., 12 mo., 18 mo., or 24 mo. sweater.  Included in the kit is a small notecard, envelope and bird's nest sticker to use for gifting!

Pattern Specifications

The pattern is written for an experienced knitter.  Suggested needle size is U.S. 4 & 5.

Below are clearer instructions for the 2-st Right Cross (RC) and the 2-st Left Cross (LC) 2-st Right Cross (RC): Knit second stitch on left-hand needle but do not drop st off the needle. Knit first st on left-hand needle and drop both sts off the needle.
2-st Left Cross (LC): Knit second stitch on left-hand needle through the back of the st but do not drop st off the needle. Knit first st on left-hand needle and drop both sts off the needle.
Below are clearer instructions for the Left and Right Fronts. The first 3 paragraphs should read: Fronts Knit both Fronts at the same time with separate balls of yarn, reversing the pattern placement and shaping for Right Front. Left and Right Front: With smaller needles cast on 35 (37, 39, 41) [35, 37, 39] sts and work in Basket Rib pattern as for back. Change to larger needles and k 1 row increasing 0 (0, 1, 1) [0, 0, 1] st. 35 (37, 40, 42) [35, 37, 40] sts. Next row (WS) - setup row to establish pattern as follows: Left Front: k3; p2, k2; p9; k2, p1, k2; p3, k1, p3; k2, p2; pm; [p1, k1] seed st for 3 (5, 8, 10) [3, 5, 8] sts. Right Front: [p1, k1] seed st for 3 (5, 8, 10) [3, 5, 8] sts; pm; p2, k2; p3, k1, p3; k2, p1, k2; p9; k2, p2; k3
